Runglish in Action: Anglicisms in the Bilingual Mental Lexicon

This paper examines the functioning of some new Anglicisms in bilingual mental lexicon which consists Russian as L1 and English L2, by means association experiment. English-based neologisms today have a number interesting features: they exist abundance, are used extensively ubiquitously, many these words not subject to single spelling standard. The (bilingual) is key exploring semantic structures individuals form express thoughts, well study their lexical representations. Based on quantitative qualitative analyses free controlled tests, article concludes that well-developed identity, one hand, contributes putting L2 vocabulary knowledge into practice; other it prevents lexemes from becoming part bilingual’s L1. Thus, possible assume higher level less likely certain will turn Anglicisms. Besides, bilinguals' use characterized shift meaning towards corresponding words.
